Coach: Robert New
Robert is a professional judo coach who works closely with the British Judo Association to develop this sport. He has coached at school, club, county and international level.
Day/Time: Wednesday 5.15pm – 6.15pm in the Stephen Smith Room.
Open to boys and girls of all abilities in the First to Fourth Years
The sessions will be run in accordance with the British Judo Association (BJA) guidelines. Students can be graded if they hold a valid judo licence. Details of how to obtain a licence can be obtained from Robert once the sessions begin. Obtaining a licence and grading will incur an additional cost. Judo is a contact sport that teaches balance, coordination, efficiency of movement, speed, power, strength, skills of falling safely and self defence. As well as these physical benefits, judo also promotes the mental attributes of self confidence, respect and self discipline. The sport of judo is unique in that it teaches the prevention of injury by practising techniques of falling safely. The skills of the sport are transferable to many other All students will be guided towards competition if they wish.
