Busy start to the Cricket season
It has been an incredibly busy start to the Summer Term for the cricketers with over 60 matches played already. Thankfully it has been a dry, if cold, start to the season and not one match has been lost to rain.
There have been some wonderful performances to date both from teams and individuals. Last weekend there were wins against Sevenoaks for the 2nd XI, U15A, U15B, and U14As. It was a good day for the Thomas brothers, with George taking 5 wickets for 12 runs, and Christian 4 for 11 as well as scoring a wonderful 81, for the U15 and U14As respectively. However the outstanding performance of the day was Lachlan Coyle, taking 5 for 8 for the 2nd XI.
The U14Bs have played some very attractive cricket and secured good wins over Reigate and Seaford College.
For the U13s, Tom Williamson has dominated with the bat, and displayed some fine leadership as captain. Johnny Naylor has produced some fine performances with both bat and ball for the U12As.
The 1st XI have started the season with mixed fortunes, with periods of outstanding cricket being played. Sam Thorpe has already taken 19 wickets including 5 for 21 against Reigate. The best performance so far was in defeating Eltham in the first round of the national T20. There have been 50s for Captain Joe Foggin and Louis Brown, while Matt Terry has consistently gotten starts without going on to make a big score.
On a really positive note, I would like to praise all the cricketers for the attitude they have displayed throughout the games so far. The excitement and enjoyment as several games have gone down to the last ball has been clear to see.
