The Corps is Back to Training

The CCF started term with a bang last week under its new training schedule which sees cadets from different year groups parading on two afternoons per week. On Wednesday we welcomed back the Fourth and Fifth Year cadets who got warmed up for the busy year ahead with weapon training, fieldcraft and airmanship. Both year groups returned in great spirits and great numbers too – over 70 cadets, in their bubbles, were evidently as delighted as staff to be back in the saddle.

Thursday saw the first Induction Afternoon for interested recruits in the Third Year. A whopping 98 pupils joined us in glorious sunshine to have a whale of a time for 90 minutes charging about, learning how to crawl and provide covering fire, meeting the rifle for the first time, smearing themselves in cam cream and even taking their first steps in drill. They look set to be a great bunch of cadets whom it was a pleasure to meet and who will ensure the Corps’ size and quality is unaffected by these strange times.
