Science Festival
A super Saturday of Science brought leading scientific minds to Caterham for our inaugural Science Festival. The stellar line up saw renowned authors studied by our pupils and teachers jump off the page and in to the Humphreys Theatre to give fascinating talks. Across the day we explored the workings of the brain, the hunt for the elusive Higgs Boson particle and a brand new way of thinking about biology and life as well as understanding the untapped hidden secrets of the world’s Natural History Museums and their promise in solving climate change.
Families and students from a wide range of schools joined us for the day alongside Caterham’s scientists. It was fantastic to hear the enthusiasm and depth of knowledge in our audience’s questioning which followed each talk showing just how much the speakers had ignited their topics.
Space travel was also enjoyed courtesy of the inflatable planetarium which took off every 30 minutes for whistlestop tours of the galaxy from the Deayton Theatre. Virtual Realty also challenged visitors in a range of tasks, which never fails to look amusing to those watching outside of the headsets.
