Alexis Wins Commendation in Prestigious Competition
Alexis, a talented pupil with a passion for languages, has been awarded a commendation in the national Anthea Bell Prize for Young Translators. Competing against hundreds of students from across the country, Alexis stood out for her exceptional translation of a French literary text into English.
The Anthea Bell Prize, named after the renowned literary translator, encourages young people to engage with foreign languages through creative translation. Alexis’s work impressed the judges with its accuracy, flair, and sensitivity to tone and style.
Her commendation places her among the top young translators in her age group, a significant achievement in this highly competitive contest. “I really enjoyed how I could interpret the French poem in my own way to put my own perspective and thoughts into my translation.” Alexis said.
