A Celebratory End to the School Year with Wilberforce Week!

The final week of term has been brought to life with Wilberforce Week – a vibrant and varied programme that has offered pupils the chance to step away from the usual timetable and engage in something a little different. Designed to inspire, challenge and reward, the week has featured a broad mix of activities, trips, and events, creating a memorable and meaningful end to the academic year, and made all the better with the glorious sunshine!

Our Lower Sixth pupils took the lead in running a Community Day for visiting primary school pupils – a fantastic opportunity for them to develop leadership, communication and mentoring skills. The day was filled with engaging activities and workshops, and it was wonderful to see the younger children so inspired by their older peers. Meanwhile, our Lower School masterminded an excellent EDGE Science Museum, a fantastic culmination of the work completed in EDGE and Science lessons. Brilliant exhibitions showcased their research and creativity, and the displays were enjoyed by many in the school community as a wonderful celebration of independent learning. Third and Fourth Year pupils competed in a range of sporting, team-building and academic challenges, including a celebration of Maths & English, trying out our new & improved Adventure Zone in Wildcats, and learning more about the School’s ongoing work in Old Park Woods.

A range of trips throughout the week– including to the Science Museum in London, Thorpe Park, Greenwich Observatory, and Kew Gardens – provided well-deserved opportunities enrich learning beyond the classroom and enjoy socialising with friends. In the latter half of the week, pupils threw themselves into House Competitions with the traditional House Song on Wednesday and a lively Sports Day on Thursday- the school was awash with brilliant colour and house spirit!

The week concluded with tutor group celebrations, year group assemblies, and awards ceremonies, recognising effort, contribution and achievement across the school. With events such as MADLive and the New Parents’ BBQ adding further energy and community spirit, Wilberforce Week has once again proven to be a fitting and joyful way to round off a successful year!
