Exploration Trip of the Romantic Movement
This week saw the Fifth Year Scholars’ Society regulars take a trip to the British Museum and the National Portrait Gallery in their continued exploration of the Romantic Movement.
Following last week’s talk by Mr Owen on the decryption of Egyptian hieroglyphs in which the Rosetta Stone took centre stage, our scholars enjoyed coming face to face with the artefact itself. Completing a bespoke treasure hunt of the museum’s highlights, they met such important historical pieces as the Standard of Ur, the Lewis Chessmen, and the megalithic statue of Ramesses II.
