Dr Rachael Greenhalgh is a Research Fellow at the University of Southampton. She completed her Masters in Chemistry at the University of Southampton, conducting research on superalloy materials, before pursuing a PhD in New and Sustainable Photovoltaics at Loughborough University. Her work centres on thin-film atomic characterisation, with expertise in compositional and structural analysis of materials.

In this talk, she will outline her career pathway, highlight examples of her research, and introduce atomic lattices, the principles behind X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and Energy-Dispersive X-ray Analysis (EDX).
