Top Dental Implant Surgeon Visits Wright Society
On Monday 24 November, Lower Sixth members of The Wright Society had the privilege of attending a lecture by Dr Simon Nocton. As an Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon, he shared his day-to-day experiences working with a wide range of patients, covering an extensive variety of treatments and procedures. Dr Nocton explained the strong links between general and oral health and introduced us to the fascinating world of implant dentistry. Furthermore, he highlighted how technological advancements have transformed modern dental practice, including the use of digital impressions and 3D X-rays. Teamwork was a central theme throughout the talk, with Dr Nocton emphasising the importance of effective communication within the dental team. He also spoke about patient care in dentistry, stressing the need for empathy and clear explanations to ensure that patients feel comfortable and informed during their treatment. At the end of the presentation, pupils had the opportunity to ask Dr Nocton questions about his illustrious career as a dental surgeon. A big thank you to Dr Nocton, as well as to Mr Quinton, for organising this talk and offering invaluable insight into the realities of a career in healthcare.
