Boarders Dig Deep to Rebuild the Woodland

On Sunday morning 20 Lower and Upper Sixth Form Boarders joined a group of local residents in replanting woodland that had been cleared due to the outbreak of ash dieback that has affected trees across the south of England. On a crisp and sunny winter’s morning the boarders worked in teams to plant a mixture of saplings including oak, willow, cherry and holly trees. Over the course of two and a half hours they planted over 200 trees. While it will take years for the replanted woodland to mature, the boarders took great satisfaction from knowing they were having a positive impact on the environment and really enjoyed working alongside the local community. Hopefully they will return to the Harestone Valley in years to come and be able to see the long term impact of their conservation efforts.
