Annual Bridge Building Competition

Annual Bridge Building Competition

This term, our Lower Sixth pupils put their engineering skills to the test in the annual Bridge Building Competition. Working to a strict design brief and with only a limited selection of materials, teams were challenged to construct a bridge capable of supporting the greatest possible load while keeping the structure as light as possible.

The standard of entries was exceptionally high, with pupils demonstrating impressive creativity, careful planning and an excellent understanding of structural design. After a series of increasingly demanding load tests, Team the Liz Truss emerged victorious with a remarkable bridge that supported an astonishing 254 times its own weight.

Congratulations to Josh B, Ollie N, Seb R, Alex L and Miles R on their outstanding winning design and well done to all the Lower Sixth students who embraced the challenge with such enthusiasm, ingenuity and determination.
