SGT Lewis Competes at Bisley

Shooting this year at the Imperial Competition at Bisley, the UK’s premier youth shooting meet, was an incredibly enjoyable experience and one of the highlights of my shooting calendar. I was fortunate to compete for the BYSA team in the youth event giving me the opportunity to shoot alongside and compete against other young shooters.

I later went on to compete in the main meeting under Caterham School, in which I “broke my Tyro” (shooting well enough to advance shooting class), advancing to O-Class. While I am still waiting for my results from the Grand Aggregate, the overall competition during the event, I have been awarded two other medals which will be sent to me later this month along with the other results.

I was awarded a Bronze HPS Cross from the McQueens A, meaning I shot the highest possible score available in the McQueen shoots at least once. I placed 5th for the U25 category with 82 entries and 2nd for the U19 category with a score of 50.7v. I also completed pairs with my brother for the McQueens A placing 6th of 45 with a result of 97.11v.

Lastly, I received an NRA Gold Medal for clay shotgun shooting U19 along with my brother who received a NRA Gold Medal for U16. I hope soon to receive my main meeting results and my medals in physical form. This outcome makes me excited for next year and I plan to continue to work and practice on my shooting.
