First and Third Years Get Off to a Fantastic Start

It was wonderful to welcome our new First and Third Year pupils to school last week as they took part in a fantastic few days getting to know one another and demonstrated excellent teamwork, enthusiasm and a real can-do attitude.

Both year groups threw themselves into a packed programme of icebreakers, team-building challenges and activities. Our First Years enjoyed human table football, scavenger hunts, capture the flag, table tennis and bucket relays, while our new Third Years took part in orienteering, talks, icebreakers and even a spot of prehistoric fossil hunting – well, tiny plastic dinosaurs hidden inside plaster eggs! It was an excellent opportunity for them to start to become familiar with the school site and meet others who are in the same boat of joining a new school and even coming to a new country.

Then, on Friday, Third Years ventured out into WildCats and Old Park Woods in the quintessential British weather of grey cloud and constant drizzle to do some fantastic Team Building with their Tutor Group. Despite the weather, the attitudes were distinctly sunny, and it was great to see some leaders emerging already, amongst a whole year group who already have outstanding teamwork ability.

It has been brilliant to see both year groups settling in so confidently and embracing everything school life has to offer. We can’t wait to see what the year ahead has in store for them!
