Oxford University awards ‘Highly Commended’ for Olivia’s Essay

Olivia in Upper Sixth, has been Highly Commended in the prestigious Julia Wood History Essay competition with her essay on ‘‘To what extent was Spain’s transition to democracy in 1975-1982 peaceful?’ The Julia Wood essay competition is run by St Hugh’s college, Oxford and is one of the most competitive and highly regarded essay competitions open to sixth form historians.

There were 1039 entrants this year, which indicates the ferocity and popularity of the competition, which is unique in allowing candidates to create their own question. Olivia was invited to St Hugh’s College with other candidates to enjoy a celebratory tea.
