Join us for a very special CaterhamConnected Insight Evening exploring the global outlook for the Financial Services Industry with global leaders in Finance.

Alister Hibbert, Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at BlackRock, is our keynote speaker with a panel of finance professionals joining us for café style networking.

This event is part of CaterhamConnected’s professional insight series to which parents and alumni are invited. The event is supported by the Old Caterhamians Association.

Keynote speaker:

Alister Hibbert, Managing Director and portfolio manager, is head of BlackRock’s Strategic Equity Team within the Fundamental Equity division of BlackRock’s Portfolio Management Group. He is a founder and co-manager of both the BlackRock Strategic Equity Hedge Fund and the BlackRock Global Unconstrained Equity Strategy.

Prior to joining Blackrock in 2008, Alister was an investment director with Scottish Widows Investment Partnership from 2005, responsible for continental European portfolios. Before this, Alister was a European equity portfolio manager with Oechsle International (2004-2005) and Invesco Perpetual (1996-2004). He began his career with accountants Ernst & Young in 1994.

Alister earned a BSc in Economics from the University of Bristol in 1992.

Our Expert Panel:

Anna Ohlsson-Baskerville, Experienced venture capital investor and Non-executive Board director for emerging beauty brands.

Anna is a Partner at Unilever Ventures, the venture capital arm of the Unilever Group, responsible for deal origination and execution, as well as portfolio management through Board representation. Her career has covered a wide range of companies and sectors including consumer goods (personal care and refreshment) and technology.

Anna is currently a Board director of SACHAJUAN Haircare AB, True Botanicals Inc, Trinny London Ltd and Beauty Bakerie Cosmetic Brands Inc. She also looks after Unilever Ventures’ participation in Huma Therapeutics, Gallinée, CreatorIQ and Skupos.

As a Non Executive Board director, she is dedicated to high growth SMEs whom she advises on how to expand in a manner that will maximise long-term shareholder wealth. Anna is closely involved in the portfolio companies’ strategic planning, commercial tactics, annual budget process, audit and remuneration committees, fund raising and M&A as well as general corporate governance.

 

James Burns, Managing Director at Crescent Credit Europe LLP, focusing on European credit. From 2007 to 2013, he was a Senior Director in the Acquisition Finance team at Lloyds Banking Group where he was responsible for managing relationships with private equity sponsors. He previously worked in the Leveraged Finance Groups at ABN AMRO as a Director, WestLB as an Assistant Director and CIBC as an Associate. He has an MA in History from Cambridge University.

Adrian Cox,  Chief Executive Officer at Beazley. Adrian began his career at Gen Re in 1993 writing short tail facultative reinsurance before moving to the treaty department in 1997, where he wrote both short and long tail business specialising in financial lines. He joined Specialty Lines at Beazley in 2001 where he has performed a variety of roles, including underwriting manager, building the long tail treaty account, managing the private enterprise teams, and the large risk teams before taking responsibility for Specialty Lines in 2008. Adrian then took on the role of Chief Underwriting Officer in January 2019, and he was appointed Chief Executive Officer as of April 2021. Adrian was appointed to the boards of Beazley Furlonge Ltd in 2008 and Beazley Plc in 2011.
