Costume Making Day

Costume Making Day

We are now in the fourth week of rehearsals for our 2017 School production – David Copperfield.   At this stage the production team are focusing on the design and technical elements of this exciting but challenging show!

We would like to invite students and parents to help us with creating the costumes needed for the show.   We are aware that many students have expressed an interest in learning about costume design and that many parents have sewing experience that would really support us in costuming this production.

There are two ways you can get involved:

  1. Donating items we can turn into costumes. We are looking for hats, fitted jackets, long skirts and high necked shirts/ blouses that will help us achieve a Dickensian style.  We may need to alter or dye items, so please don’t give us anything you need back.  Donations are welcome in any state of repair – costumes range from a wedding dress to a policeman to the infamous Uriah Heep!
  2. Come to our sewing day on Tuesday 17 October. Any level of expertise welcome – we will need buttons sewn on, hems fixed, costumes labelled and ironed, dresses and shirts made and altered.  The day will run from 10.00am – 4.00pm in Humphreys Hall.  We will have a couple of sewing machines available to use, but you are welcome to bring your own.  Sandwiches will be provided for lunch.   We hope this will be a great opportunity for the School community to work together on the production.

If you would like to join us on the 17 October please email [email protected]

Thank you for your ongoing support with our school productions
