Wellbeing Evening for Parents: The Breck Foundation

Wellbeing Evening for Parents: The Breck Foundation

Tuesday 2 November at 7.00pm

Humphreys Theatre

The speaker will be Sarah Smith from the Breck Foundation, which was set up in response to the tragic murder of Breck Bednar, a 14-year-old Surrey schoolboy, and campaigns for a safer internet for all children and young people. Given the amount of time having been spent online in recent months, this will be a particularly useful and informative evening.

The evening will cover the issues of online grooming, using Breck’s story as the backbone, and will touch on various outcomes of grooming that are often in the news – county lines, sextortion, sexual abuse and more. It will look at stereotypes and myths surrounding grooming and debunk them, as well as looking at what your children may be doing online. It will signpost useful websites for parents to access more information and look at how you can build as many connections with your children as possible so that they feel confident in coming to you when they come across issues online.

Places can be booked by completing the registration form found in the letter in last week’s mailing or by clicking here
