300 Years of Gulliver’s Travels

2026 marks the 300th anniversary of Gulliver’s Travels and there are a series of initiatives across the school to commemorate it. Gulliver’s Travels is a good opportunity to initiate discussions about literature, historical world events including parallels with today, travel, political satire and more. The Library World Book Day display this year is on the theme of travel and exploration, both fiction and non-fiction.  Highlights include a display of historical Maps of the local region along with models and extracts from the book. Separate events are taking place as part of the co-curriculum programme including a focus on the historical aspects with pupil presentations in CLIO (History Society), a focus on Utopia and Dystopia in LitSoc and a presentation to Third Year pupils in Scholars Club.
