A Celebration of Disney Musical Theatre

The Wilberforce Hall gained a little extra sparkle last week at our annual Musical Theatre Evening, featuring classic and contemporary Disney favourites.

Florence S (Fifth Year) paved the way for a stellar line up of performances, with a brilliant rendition of ‘Get Lost’ from Moana 2. Vocal point entertained with gutsy performances of ‘How Far I’ll Go’ from Moana and ‘Speechless’ from Aladdin. The audience were also treated in the first half to everything from the Will Smith version of ‘Friend Like Me’ from Aladdin, ‘Almost There’ from Princess and The Frog to the more lyrical and romantic strains of ‘Where the Lost Things Go’ from Mary Poppins 2 and ‘Waiting on a Wish’ from Snow White. Our First Year performers (Amelia C, Ethan F and Ruby M) are also to be congratulated on very professional musical theatre debuts.

The second half took a chilly turn, with Olivia B, (Fifth Year) and Eve N (Fifth Year, accompanied by Penny LNT) gloriously presenting ‘Let It Go’ and ‘For the First Time in Forever’ from Frozen. Other highlights included Ann T (Fifth Year) with a hilarious but no less poised version of ‘Mother Knows Best’ from Tangled, Emily S (Fourth Year) and Poppy R (Fourth Year) with a poignant and moving duet, ‘Space Between’ from Descendents 2 and Close Harmony with a polished arrangement of ‘Everybody Wants to be a Cat’. Will C (Lower Sixth) accompanied by both choirs, rounded off the evening with a rousing performance of ‘Go the Distance’ from Hercules.
