Baking Up Support
On May 5 and 6, me, Emma P and Rosie B ran a bake sale to help raise money to buy reusable period products for the girls in Lerang’wa school. We spent the weekend baking with the help of Ellie R, Sami O’D and Josh B, and we were ready to set up for first break. Over the 2 days we raised close to £300, which puts us within reaching distance of our goal!
I am part of a group of Lower Sixth pupils who visit Lerang’wa school to volunteer our help teaching and making the school environment a better space for learning.
Lerang’wa school is comprised of around 900 pupils, from the Maasai villages and farming communities in the local area. Our aim this year is to take around 300 reusable period products for all the girls in the school facing period poverty and help alleviate the experience of facing periods without the support that western women have the privilege of. In an agreement with “hey Girls” period products, they are happy to give charity prices for 300 reusable pads for just over £900. This is the goal we are aiming to reach, and any funds over that will be put towards buying sports equipment and school equipment. I hope that this is a charitable cause you are passionate to donate towards.
