Camden Drama Festival
On the 23 and 24 August, a group of senior drama scholars took to the London stage as part of this year’s Camden Fringe Festival. The group had formed as a company back in February, taking on the challenging but exciting task of devising a piece of theatre about their experience of being a teenager in 2025. Over the course of several months (including a long summer break where rehearsals were on hold for 6 weeks!) The Space They’re In was created. The group shared stories, ideas and a lot of laughs, working collaboratively to devise an honest and unflinching look at what it means to be young in world that doesn’t always want to understand you.
Working with this talented group of individuals will certainly remain as a highlight of my career. I have never laughed so much, nor been more impressed by a group’s ability to gel and work so proactively together. The entire process was a complete joy from beginning to end, culminating in two nearly sold-out performances and rave reviews:
“So impressed with this talented group of actors, delivering thought provoking insight into their world told only as they can. Bravo!”
“Phenomenal – truly the best fringe show I’ve seen. The cast were skilled at entertaining comedic scenes but what was most memorable were the meaningful, thought-provoking political messages.”
“I don’t know any of the cast and decided to drop by this show last minute on a whim, and I really enjoyed it! Wonderful acting across the board, everyone really sold it, lots of clever/humourous/heartwarming moments in the script, and overall, very professional execution. I’m so impressed that this was put together by high school kids, I’m sure they will go very far in the future!”
Congratulations to the wonderful cast who entertained, moved and inspired their audiences. We can’t wait to see what else they bring to the stage in the future!
