Caterham on the Fast Track to Success
It has been an outstanding few weeks for Caterham School Athletics, with pupils achieving success at county, regional and district competitions.
At the Surrey Schools Athletics Championships, 17 Caterham athletes were in action with many recording personal bests and reaching finals. The highlight came from Lilly B, who was crowned Surrey Schools Junior Girls Javelin Champion and will represent Surrey at the Inter Counties Championships this weekend.
On Monday, both the Junior Girls and Intermediate Girls teams competed in the ESAA Regional Athletics Finals. Qualifying for this stage is a significant achievement, placing Caterham amongst the strongest athletics schools in the region. The ESAA Cup is a demanding team competition, requiring every athlete to compete in both a track and field event. We now await confirmation of the results and hope to see one or both teams progress to the National Finals.
Caterham School was also delighted to host the Year 8 District Athletics Championships, where the Year 8 Girls were crowned District Champions. Individual District Champions included:
- Annabelle B– Shot Put and Hurdles
- Athaliah A– 100m
- Richard P– Triple Jump
- Adrian D– Shot Put
The girls’ 4 × 100m relay team of Athaliah A Annabelle B, Ava B and Ella D also claimed the district title.
Congratulations to all athletes who represented the school so successfully and continue to showcase the strength of athletics at Caterham.
