CCF Range Day

Twenty cadets made for Pirbright Ranges on Sunday for the last range day of the year before summer camps. A demanding shoot offered the cadets the chance to fire at 100m in the prone, kneeling and sitting position, and standing in a fire-trench.

Although for many it was their first time firing at such a distance, the cadets acquitted themselves admirably: most achieved ‘Trained Shot’, with LCpl Popov, Cdt Crutchfield and Cdt Sherry earning themselves ‘Marksman’ classifications. Sgt Mulcaire was the day’s best shot with a terrific score of 41/45.

The day finished with a competition which pitted cadets against adult representatives of the Sergeants’ and Officers’ Messes. Suffice it to say that the results will not be published.
