Decoding METARs with the Aviation Club
This week in Aviation Club Constantine W (Fourth Year) gave a talk on decoding METARs. A METAR is a Meteorological Aerodrome Report and covers the important information about the weather around an airport for pilots. This information is very important and technical, and Constantine took the club through a selection of the acronyms used and how to understand the information give. If any of the club members want to eventually become a pilot, then his will be one of the areas they will be assessed on for their Private Pilot’s Licence (PPL). This talk is another activity for the aviation club who also regularly use the flight simulation software, whilst other members are currently attempting to build an operational model aircraft.
