How do I choose the right US university for me?
This week, we were delighted to welcome Holly Smith from The University Guys, specialists in global university applications. Holly was visiting the school as part of our annual university fair, but also took the time to hold a workshop with 15 of our current Lower Sixth, all looking to apply to university in the US next year.
Holly provided some great insight into how to research and create a shortlist of the most suitable institutions. It’s a very different process from applying to university in the UK – one of the main differences being a student applies to the institution and not to a course, so they are looking at all the attributes a student can bring, with less focus on their academic ability in a particular subject.
This aspiring group of Lower Sixth pupils will be looking to build on the evolving success of US applications from our current Upper Sixth, in which four pupils have already seen a number of offers from the early decision/action rounds. The majority of decisions happen at the end of March so watch this space!
