On Wednesday 19 November, 16 of our Upper Sixth geographers attended a lecture titled ‘Is it just the element of surprise? Why hazards become disasters’, delivered by University of Manchester lecturer Dr Martin Parham at the Royal Geographical Society in South Kensington. Dr Parham introduced our students to disaster modelling of some key recent disasters, such as the 2025 California Palisades Fires and the 2025 Myanmar earthquake, stretching and challenging our A Level geographers beyond their usual curriculum.
