Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration
Our school joyfully celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival with a special mooncake-making activity, hosted by the Mandarin Circle (last Friday) and Chinese Society (this Tuesday). Pupils came together to learn about this traditional festival and had a wonderful time crafting and tasting their own snow-skin mooncakes. It was a delightful cultural experience that brought everyone closer and deepened our appreciation for Chinese traditions.
This week also saw the boarding community especially celebrating the festival! There was great excitement at the clear skies and spectacular full moon on Monday evening, and the boys in Townsend House also enjoyed traditional moon cakes which Dr Zang sourced from the local Chinese supermarket. Meanwhile a group of nine Lower Sixth boarders led our year group assemblies throughout the week sharing with the wider school the origins, mythology and traditions of the festival. The entire school has now been taught the phrase Zhōng Qiū Jié kuài lè!
