Oxford University awards Modern Languages prizes to Caterham School Pupils

We are delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our pupils in this year’s Oxford University Anthea Bell Translation Competition, a prestigious national competition that challenges students to demonstrate both linguistic accuracy and creativity. 

Congratulations to our pupils who received Commendations: Izzy G (4th Year) for French, and Alexander J and Ronav D (2nd Year) for Spanish. A special well done also goes to Margarita P (3rd Year), who earned a High Commendation in Mandarin for the exceptional quality of her translation. 

Our warmest congratulations go to Lia N (5th Year), who was named the Mandarin Area Winner for our region. This is a remarkable accomplishment and reflects her outstanding linguistic ability and dedication. 

These excellent results are a testament to the hard work, talent and enthusiasm of all our entrants. We are incredibly proud of their success and commend them for representing the school so brilliantly. Congratulations to everyone involved! 

Flash Fiction Competition
Congratulations to our talented linguists on their excellent success in this year’s Oxford University Flash Fiction Competition. This prestigious competition challenges students to write imaginative and engaging stories in a foreign language, showcasing both creativity and linguistic flair. 

We are delighted to celebrate Joseph N, who was Runner-up in the Year 10–11 French category, and Henry B-H, who received a Highly Commended award in the same category. Congratulations also to Olivia S, who achieved a Highly Commended award in the Year 12–13 Spanish category. 

These fantastic results reflect the pupils’ creativity, dedication and language skills. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and wish them every continued success.
