Pupils Conduct Sinfonia

Pupils Conduct Sinfonia

Lexie B and Scarlett B, both First Year pupils were guest conductors of our senior orchestra, Sinfonia. They were faced with a talented orchestra rehearsing Holst’s ‘Jupiter’ in preparation for the Spring Concert. Both guests demonstrated excellent command of the orchestra and a natural style and poise. First Year pupils have all learnt conducting as part of this term’s area of study of Orchestral Music. Aside from the physical mechanics, pupils have learnt about the role of the conductor more generally and considered the importance of problem-solving and decision making in music. Both pupils were selected for their clear understanding of the role and for their confidence and ability to control the music. Well done to both Lexie and Scarlett on taking on this daunting experience
