Speaking Through Art

Speaking Through Art

ARTiculation 2025 got off to a flying start on Tuesday 25 Nov with our six shortlisted internal competitors from the Lower Sixth. Pupils are invited to deliver a 10-minute presentation each to an audience on a work of art, architecture or an artefact of their choice. Taking part in ARTiculation improves students’ oracy skills, including public speaking, independent research skills, presentation skills, critical thinking, and visual analysis skills.
Our esteemed judges assessed each presentation as a whole, looking at content, structure, delivery and the speaker’s original approach and unique potential. The students are aiming at winning a place in the national final at the V and A  in the Spring and is a fantastic opportunity for students to practice their oracy and critical thinking skills. The judges were impressed with the wide range of artworks selected from fashion concept pieces , architectural designs, photography and fine art . It was a chalk to settle on the first, second and third placings as every candidate was superb.

Well done to our overall winner going through to the regional final in February in Folkestone, Victoria Stefak, who presented on Rego’s pastel , Depression No.5. Her presentation was skilful , thought provoking and powerfully conveyed.
