Sports Kit Finds New Players in Ghana

With old style school branded sports kit piling up in the Nearly New Uniform shops and no sustainable route to recycle it, we asked Sal’s Shoes, one of the PA’s charities, if they might be able to rehome it overseas where it might find life again. As always, they jumped on the opportunity and along with donated shoes, our preloved non current kit from both the prep and senior schools, travelled to the Future Leaders School in Accra, Ghana. Future Leaders provide a free education to children with over 300 pupils currently enrolled. They also provide books, uniforms, Sal’s Shoes, transport to and from school and two meals each day so that no child goes hungry. With our donation, each child in Years 1-9 (Age 6-16) was given an item of kit so that they can enjoy PE and tournaments. Many of the girls frequently don’t attend PE lessons as they don’t have anything suitable to wear so this really is a great step forward.
