Thrilling House Drama Performances!

Thrilling House Drama Performances!

Last Wednesday saw the return of House Drama, with Caterham Houses taking over the Humphreys Theatre for a thrilling afternoon of monologues, duologues, and original devised Pieces!

The monologues were a fierce contest, showcasing highlights from classical and contemporary texts – and even the occasional gymnastic flourish! Josh G gave a tremendous performance of ‘To Be or Not To Be’. Florence R. took first place for Lewisham with a performance that was detailed and full of tension!

Duologues saw dramatists take on a wide range of genres, with many houses showing off their comic flair. Whilst we saw many iconic duos in this contest, first place was awarded to Amritaa D. and Shreya M. for their brilliant performance of Coward’s classic Blithe Spirit.

Finally, we saw the highly anticipated devised pieces. All houses presented some excellent new pieces, with some brilliant observations about school life and even moments of meta-theatricality. Ridgefield gave a heartwarming performance about self worth in the age of social media, but it was Lewisham who came first in the round with their fantastically chaotic performance as ‘The Lewisham Improv Society’!

The competition ended with Lewisham and Ridgefield coming in joint first, threatening Ridgefield’s well defended winning streak. A huge congratulations is in order for everyone who took part, performing in front of your peers can be an intimidating moment even without the honour of your house on the line!
