Toby W Cleans Up with Reigate Start-up

We are incredibly proud of Toby W in Second Year, who embodies the innovative and entrepreneurial spirit we encourage at Caterham School through his business venture, The Reigate Soap Company. 

Driven by a passion for the environment and a desire to make a positive impact, Toby and his friend Leon launched the company with sustainability at its heart. Their eco-friendly hand soap is supplied in refillable glass bottles and delivered by bicycle, helping to reduce its carbon footprint. 

Taking their commitment to sustainability even further, the pair have established a verified partnership with CleanHub. Through this initiative, for every bottle sold, 1kg of plastic is removed before it can reach the ocean, helping to tackle plastic pollution at its source. 

The refillable soap is sourced from Fill Refill Co., a certified B Corp and zero-waste company that produces its products sustainably without single-use packaging. The soap is currently available in two wonderful scents: Fig Leaf and Forest. 

Building on their learning about the effective use of AI, Toby and Leon have created an impressive website and designed promotional materials to support sales of their product. They have also embraced traditional sales techniques, going door-to-door to promote their business, with some of their most successful days achieving a remarkable 100% conversion rate. 

The boys have ambitious plans for the future of The Reigate Soap Company. Toby explains: “We hope to expand our product range and deliver to a wider area. I’d also love to partner with more charities, particularly those working to protect rainforests and trees, as that’s something very important to me.” 

And Toby’s advice for fellow budding entrepreneurs? 

“Never give up. It will look tough, and sometimes it may feel like everything is going wrong, but you can always find a way through. It’s been hard work balancing the business alongside school, but if we can do it, anyone can.”
