U14’s Mixed Touch Team win Regional Final!

The U14 mixed Touch Team attended the Regional Final of this national competition hosted at St John’s Leatherhead on Wednesday. The sun was shining and the pitches were primed for our squad to showcase their efforts on a perfect day for this fast-paced format of the game.

The tournament, run by @ERSchoolsTouch, consisted of 16 schools who were split into two different pools with each squad guaranteed at least six games. The eventual winner would be heading to the National Finals hosted at Sixways Stadium, home of Worcester Warriors.

Our speed and range of passing shone from the start with some excellent passages of play interlinking all members of the team. Defensive frailties in the opposition line were tested and then exploited by fancy footwork and quick support lines, some great finishes from Ava P, Alisa S in the corners of the field. Elise T showed her speed off the mark to speed round floundering defenders and Jess showed that she was not to be messed with in defence! Attacking flair from Zac, Edwin and Fionn created multiple options for our team when attacking and these were taken time and again by the consistent work-rate of Arthur and Santi. The quick handling of Emma and Sophie in the middle gave the opposition no respite, as wave upon wave of Caterham attack ended in points.

A fantastic squad effort, given the shortened training time. We move on to the National Final on 22 June 22.
