What We’re Reading!
As part of our championing of reading, pupils are sharing what they have been reading recently, reviewing the great, the ones to avoid and the un-put-down-able. This will be a weekly segment in the newsletter – perfect for suggestions at home or ideas for Christmas presents!
Emily Dai
The Da Vinci code
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Amazing book but some bits are confusing. I recommend it because it’s plot is addictive.
This is a murder mystery with lots of codes and symbolism, where a man is murdered and he leaves some clues for the protagonist to find. The ending is very good but it is predictable from an early stage.
Joseph N
Act of Oblivion
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Historical fiction about the escape of Charles I’s regicides.
Exciting at parts but sometimes slow moving. I would recommend if you are interested in history.
Amara H
Girl in Pieces
⭐️⭐️⭐️
It’s good but there’s not really a plot she’s just talking about her life before the mental hospital and what happens every day.
I recommend it because it’s an easy read and its interesting
Amaya D
The Catcher in the Rye
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Very engaging narrator.
I would recommend it as it is very interesting to hear all the narrators opinions.
I wouldn’t recommend it as some people find the storyline a bit boring, it is about a 17 year old boy who has been expelled from many boarding schools. Set in the 1950’s.
