World Space Week
This week is World Space Week, with the theme rocket revolution and Caterham pupils have been building and flying their own rockets. In Junior Science club pupils were challenged to build the best paper rocket to be launched by air power. In the end the three best rockets belonged to Heidi P, Lochlan W and Bethany T (pictured). Reaching greater heights were Fifth and Lower Sixth Year pupils. They had been preparing chemical motor-powered rockets since the beginning of term to compete in CATROC (Caterham Rocketry competition). Their rockets were judged on technical refinement and knowledge, aesthetics and time of flight. All rockets launched successfully with a greatest altitude of 94.6m. There was intense competition between the 6 teams that entered with Team No Name eventually running out winners after placing no lower than second in any of the criteria. Congratulations to Mumu Z, Lucas L, Zerui L and James C.
The Lower Sixth pupils will now have the opportunity to form a team to enter the UKROC competition and represent the school on a national stage.
