National Final Qualification for 1st XI Girls
This week saw our 1st XI girls’ hockey team competing at the England Hockey U18 Tier 4 South East Finals held at Sevenoaks School. The girls travelled over full of hope and expectation, knowing that winning the tournament would mean qualification to the National Finals.
The first game vs Sevenoaks was a tight affair, but the pressure finally told, and the girls eventually ran out 3-1 winners. The second game vs Tormead was another close game. Having lost to them 1-0 in the previous round, the girls put in a solid performance to take a 0-0 draw meaning that winning the final game vs TWGGS would secure qualification. An early backhand goal from Anna F. saw the girls take the lead, and they controlled the game for the remainder to come away with the win and qualification to the National Finals, held at The Nottingham Hockey Centre on 6th February 2023.
Congratulations, girls. This is a great achievement. We wish you the best of luck for the finals.
