Annual Essay Competition

Annual Essay Competition

Our Upper Sixth Economics pupils spent the summer writing excellent essays for our annual Essay Competition. Across a wide range of titles, they pushed the boundaries of their Economic understanding and learnt new academic skills which will be invaluable beyond A Level. Some of the judges’ favourite essays came from Genie, Olivia, Ella and Ben M as they deftly explored topics such as US-China Trade, Forced Redistribution, Gender equality and Immigration. However, it was Christian’s essay, “A Mansion Tax is an idea whose time has come” that clinched the overall title. The judges were impressed by how he balanced a range of economic theory with ambitious political policy thinking and backed it all up with many well-referenced sources- well done Christian! Congratulations to everyone for taking part and keep an eye out for some featured essays in the annual Preview magazine later this year!
