Endangered instruments

Opportunity to Learn!

The Music Department have been promoting ‘endangered’ musical instruments through a series of workshops and demonstrations by our Visiting Music Teachers. Pupils have enjoyed the opportunity to see these instruments ‘in action’ and there has been lively interest in the take-up of these instruments. Endangered instruments are those instruments that typically in a school setting, have the fewest number of pupils. These include: bassoon, tuba, french horn, double bass, harp and saxophone. Pupils have been hearing the versatility of these instrument and how they can be adapted to almost any style of music.

If your child has tried one of these instruments and expresses an interest in learning it, please contact our Head of Instrumental Music, Mr Brian Hill in the Music Department ([email protected]). We are always excited and delighted to welcome new musicians and especially those taking on the challenge of one of the endangered instruments.
