Endangered Instruments

Endangered Instruments

For the past two weeks, First Years have been introduced to ‘endangered instruments’ such as the harp, bassoon, tuba, trombone, viola and French horn. Pupils were treated to a variety of performances by our visiting music teachers and were able to try-out instruments themselves. In many cases, the last opportunity pupils had to engage in such a project will have been in Year Three and pupils found that they were more confident and able to produce a good sound. Mr Hill, Head of Instrumental Music has been impressed by the abilities of so many pupils to create and sustain a good sound, and he has received a number of applications from those wishing to start-up instrumental musical lessons. Caterham School is proud of its team of amazing visiting music teachers and currently every orchestral instrument is offered.

Parents will receive a letter in due course, but if anyone is already interested in studying one of the instruments it is important to let Mr Hill know, to avoid a long waiting list.
