New Presidents & Vice Presidents for MJS and TWS

New Presidents & Vice Presidents for MJS and TWS

This week saw a stunning close to the Moncrieff-Jones Society season with a lecture by Brandon K (Lower Sixth Form) on Prion Proteins – proteins which do not fold correctly in the cells of our brain causing conditions such as such as CJD.  The talk showed just what MJS is all about – talks by pupils at the cutting edge of research, often leaving more questions than answers.   At the end of the talk current President Alex R, with a place to study Biological Sciences at Imperial College London announced that the President for 2021-22 will be Jason C and the Vice President Rianis C.

In the last two weeks, The Wright Society has seen talks by associate members Bethany N and Sophie C, both from Oxted School.  The Wright Society is dedicated to helping aspiring Medics achieve their dream of securing a place at Medical School, and welcomes students from our partner maintained schools, something both Mr Quinton and Patron Dr Richard Wright are very keen to develop further.  Last week the Society had an in depth look at Pathology, researched and presented by Lower Sixth Form pupil Fleur M.   At the end of the talk TWS President Max F (who has an offer to study Medicine at St Andrews) and Vice President Louie S (who has an offer to study Medicine at Newcastle) announced that their successors for 2021-22 will be Rosie H as President and Michelle W as Vice President.

Congratulations to Jason, Rainis, Rosie and Michelle.
