Two ex-cadets win places at Sandhurst

Corps is delighted to report that two Old Caterhamians have been selected for training as Army officers at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst.

Mr Richard Webb (2016), a graduate of the University of Swansea, has been working at Caterham for the past year while his application has been processed, teaching Physics and working as an Adult Under-Officer with Corps. He passed his Army Officer Selection Board (AOSB) last month, thus crossing the final hurdle to a place at Sandhurst, from where he hopes to commission into the Royal Engineers. Mr Webb was Head of Corps (RSM) in 2015-2016.

After a five-year career as a cadet with Corps, Mr Chatfield left Caterham in 2015 as a sergeant in the Army Section. He went on to graduate from the University of Bath in 2019 and has since been working for the FDM Group in London. He will return to us next term to support cadet training until January, when he will join the same intake as Mr Webb at Sandhurst.

Many congratulations to these fine young people on passing the Army’s stringent assessments and winning places at Sandhurst. We are very proud to see leading cadets beginning careers in the Army and know what fine officers they will make. They take with us our very best wishes.
