Today Caterham School is celebrating another superb year of A-Level success, with an impressive 70% of all results achieved being A* and A grades and 91% A*to B grades. 34% of grades were at A* and 52% of pupils achieved straight A grades or better across all their exams, with 17 pupils achieving straight A* grades across all subjects.
The strength of this year’s results is reflected in an impressive set of university destinations across the UK, US and globally with over 95% of pupils having secured a place at their university of choice. A total of 11 pupils will take up places at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, while 8 pupils have secured places to study Medicine. The breadth of subjects pupils will go on to study demonstrates the diversity of interests and opportunities available at Caterham School, with subjects ranging from veterinary science and politics to film, architecture and music.
Ceri Jones, Headmaster, said: “It is safe to say that the hard work, resilience and ambition of our pupils shine through in these outstanding results (and the inspirational teaching of my fantastic colleagues). These grades are a testament to their determination, commitment and willingness to challenge themselves, and they should be immensely proud of what they have achieved. Perhaps most impressively, these stunning grades sit alongside amazing achievements in music, drama, sport and a whole range of other passions – demonstrating once again that academic ambition and success sit alongside breadth and balance in the lives of our young people. I could not be prouder of this cohort of pupils. They now have an exciting future ahead of them, and I look forward to seeing how they flourish and grow in the years to come. Whatever path they choose, they will always remain an important part of the Caterham School community. Our friendships and alumni network provide a lifelong connection, with a global community that is always there to support.”
This year’s A-Level success builds on a period of recognition for Caterham School and it’s growing family of schools. The Telegraph recently named Caterham School in the highest category of its Best Value UK Private Schools league table, recognising our broad offer to pupils including exceptional teaching and outstanding facilities.
The 2026 results also follow a glowing Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) report, which recognised Caterham School as the first and only UK school to achieve three Key Areas of Strength in an inspection, highlighting the school’s work in teaching and learning, wellbeing, and digital and innovation. Caterham also received national recognition across the education sector, including being named a winner in the Independent School of the Year Awards 2024, as well as being recognised by Times Educational Supplement’s Best UK Independent Senior School 2023 and Best Independent Prep School in 2026.
