Abi is on Cloud Nine with her Top Grades
Abi is on cloud nine after securing a fabulous 11 grade 9s in her GCSEs. Abi discovered her clean sweep of top grades after a nervous start to the day: “Discovering my results was awesome. I didn’t sleep too well thinking about them but it’s been great news.”
Abi can now take her pick of A Level subjects as she moves into Sixth Form: “It’s hard choosing which subject because I love them all but I’m going to do English, Maths, Greek and French. Today has given me a lot of confidence stepping into the Sixth Form.
Outside of lessons, Abi has much to look forward to in Sixth Form: “I want to be part of the Arts and Humanities magazine Cat Amongst the Pigeons as well as continue to be part of the Ethics Cup Team.” Abi was part of the Caterham team who reached the 2026 national finals in the Ethics Cup competition run by St Andrew’s University.
Abi moved up to the senior school from Caterham Prep and had this advice for pupils joining First Year in a few weeks’ time: “Be confident to step into it as it’s really fun to get stuck into the senior school and everything on offer.”
Olivia’s Singing for Joy with top GCSE Results
Caterham Chorister Olivia ‘couldn’t be happier’ on discovering GCSE results that hit the high notes: “I am so happy! I can do everything I want to do now in Sixth Form.”
Olivia will pursue English History, Politics and Geography at A Level as she moves into the Sixth Form in September, as well as continuing her choral singing as a key member of Caterham’s choirs and running Book Club.
“Chamber Choir was one of the first clubs I joined when I moved up from The Hawthorns School into the Third Year, and now I sing five days a week in five different Caterham choirs. Singing is one of my favourite things!”
I’d like to thank my mum who was with me every step of the way through revision, and my two best friends who supported me throughout my GCSE as well as my teachers.
Olivia’s advice for new pupils stepping up to senior school from The Hawthorns in September, including her younger brother, is to join lots of clubs: “People say it a lot but it’s true – I’ve met loads of friends by joining clubs as well as discovering my love of singing.”
Shock and Excitement for Rohan
It was a day of shock and excitement for Rohan, who was thrilled to discover that he had achieved Grade 9s across all his subjects.
Looking ahead, Rohan is planning to study Maths, Further Maths, Computer Science, Physics, and Philosophy & Theology in the Sixth Form, and is excited about taking the next step in his education and continuing to explore his academic interests.
Since joining Caterham from Copthorne Prep Rohan has also made the most of life beyond the classroom during his time at Caterham. He particularly enjoyed playing rugby for the 1st Team and being part of the CCF, which was a completely new experience for him.
Reflecting on his results, Rohan was keen to thank his parents and teachers for their support and encouragement, which have helped him reach this fantastic milestone.
Master Cadet Caitlin Celebrates Success
‘Today has been a really happy day, I’m so pleased with my results and it’s also been fantastic seeing all my friends do really well too. It’s the end of what has felt like a long wait.’ said Caitlin, who was celebrating a fantastic set of results.
A keen linguist, she will be studying Latin, Greek, French and Maths at A level and is excited to refine her knowledge and delve into greater depth in her chosen subjects.
Outside of the classroom, sport has played a big role in her time at Caterham so far. As well as representing Surrey in Hockey and playing for Lacrosse and Cricket teams at school, last year Caitlin was also qualified for the South Surrey Cross Country Championships.
Further congratulations go to Caitlin, not only for achieving the highest possible star level, Master Cadet, in CCF this summer, but for also being named Best Student on the course. ‘I’ve loved being part of CCF and I am so excited to continue that journey into the Sixth Form.’
Caitlin continues, ‘I also want to say a big thanks to all my friends for their support and my teachers too, of course.’
Henry Knocks it out the Park
There were a few nerves for Henry this morning, however these were fleeting once he opened his envelope to amazing results, having achieved mostly 9 and a few 8 grades. His plan is to study Economics, Maths, Physics, Chemistry at A level here at Caterham School.
Looking forward to next year, Henry explains: ‘I am really looking forward to some more advanced academics in the Sixth Form, but I’m also really looking forward to the sport and playing more Cricket and Hockey.’
As well as focusing on his academics, Henry is an involved member of the CCF. He goes on to say ‘I’ve really enjoyed the CCF and I’ve particularly loved the summer camp. Going on exercises in the Brecon Beacons was really great fun.’
Lucy Scores All Grade 9s this Summer
Today couldn’t have gone any better for Lucy, who was absolutely thrilled with her results today and rightly so, with a full sweep of grade 9s. She was particularly pleased with her English Literature paper: ‘I got full marks in English Literature, which is amazing, I’d really like to thank Dr Bromley for helping me achieve 100%.’
Lucy plans to go on to study her favourite subjects Maths, Further Maths, Physics, English and Art. She says: ‘I’m really looking forward to specialising and focusing on the subjects I really enjoy.’
It has been a busy summer for Lucy, who is a keen member of the Lacrosse 1st Team here at Caterham, as she was also selected to represent South Africa in the World Lacrosse Women’s Championship Division II in Wroclaw. The team did incredibly well, coming 9th overall.
Remarkable Results for Roma
Roma’s results are remarkable for two reasons – not only has he secured a fantastic grade profile of top 8s, 7s and 6s but has done so whilst settling in a new country after moving from Ukraine and learning English from scratch.
“I spoke no English when I joined Caterham. It was hard at the start, but I learnt the language quite fast. The best part of being at Caterham is the teachers and pupils and I have lots of friends now. Being here makes me want to work hard and have fun.”
Roma’s results mean he can now concentrate on his favourite subjects at A Level: “My grades mean I can chose whatever I want to do and I’m going to go with my favourite Maths, Economics and Politics for A Level.”
The support of those around him played a big part in today’s good news for Roma: “Thanks to my family for supporting me to get these results. Thanks to my friends too – we revised together and were pushing each other on to get the best results and be competitive in a good way.”
Linguist Sophia Looks Forward to A Levels
Sophia celebrated with friends after her results envelope revealed a suite of top grade 9s and 8s: “It’s been a really lovely atmosphere at school today with everyone collecting results this morning with everyone here.”
With top results in the bag, Sophia can focus on her A Level subjects in Sixth Form: I’m going to do English, Latin and Greek plus Philosophy as a brand new subject as I didn’t do it at GCSE but am really excited to it.”
“Outside of lessons I want to continue with music which I love, particularly composing and singing in the choir plus helping out with the junior ETS choir.”
Reflecting on what she loves about school, Sophia said: “What I love about Caterham is the community and inclusivity. You can be yourself and try anything – there is so much to do. I don’t think I would have found and pursued the things I love if I hadn’t been here.”
